How do I manually update the Boxee software?

My logo turned yellow, not orange.  Worked great otherwise.

A little tip: Unplug your USB hard drive before you choose to upgrade from USB. Mine wouldn't proceed until I did that.

I upgraded and lost playback sound..  When I start boxee it has the usual start up sound, but then when i try to play a file there is an error "failed to initiate audio device check your"  I'm not sure what to check as the error doesn't finish, is there another way to retrieve the rest of the error code. I am out sound on the boxee so update with caution.

Did the manual update v.1.1. Now everything is terribly slow. No streams are working proper, so I suppose I just have to play local files. This is crap! I want to go back to the previous version. Not recommending anyone to upgrade.

I stripped completely nude when doing this, It worked brilliantly, but I'm not sure if the stripping was beneficial to the actual process.

Install was easy, but holy crap streams are slow as heck now. Local files only. Need to convert back to the old version somehow. Off to the forums...DON'T UPGRADE!!

The first time I rebooted, the logo flashed back and forth between red and green, but the screen froze on "Loading". I rebooted a second time and the logo stayed on green but I did get the Recovery Menu. The update then went fine. I'm not having any troubles. The browser upgrades are GREAT!

Streams are very slow.

1.1 works great for me.  No problems in Netflix or watching Robot Chicken off of Cartoon Network's Adult Swim.  Great job so far!

NBC does not work on the 1.1 version of boxee only a grey box shows up. Please avoid upgrading until they fix this.

sigh.  I'm having a hard time recommending this when upgrades fails, or I lose all my settings.  I'm  fucking tired of this shit.

So, I clicked the update boxee software, it downloaded and rebooted.  It failed the upgrade and gave me operation faailed, error code 0x315.   factory reset, restore, upgrade from usb. NOTHING works. Fix your fucking product boxee. I'm stuck, and will have to waste time with support.. AGAIN

My boxee box works fine before the new update. But it will have a new update so i did. It startet to opdate but it suddenly stop. And now it stuck on loading screen and the logo on the box flashes red 3 times and green 1 and then repeats its self. And when i trying to reset it by holding the power butten down for 5 sec. It just shows the yellow logo on the box and the loading screen on the tv. Help please.

I have looked almost everywhere (maybe not good enough?), but I can't figure out when this update comes to Mac. Still stuck on 0.9.23, and i'm really looking forward to this update! Can you enlighten me on this one? Thanks in advance! 

has anyone gotten feedback from boxee support on how to install an older firware, so we do not have to deal with the new firmware problems.

DOes anyone know where the file for the old firmware are stored?

Anyone tried going back to factory default to see if this resolves the the firmware update bricking the BB?

Ok, so I'm not sure if this applies to you, but the blank-after-startup issue is an HDMI to DVI issue. They are working on a fix.

I am HDMI to DVI and getting blank screen after splash screen. Forced updates......NOT COOL.

iboxxe please fix. No more forced updates please. You should be able to download old firmware

Yea, this file says: "The archive is either in unknown format or damaged"....any help with this?   For the past couple days my boxee won't connect to the internet or my network.  Any suggestions??

I am frustrated as I have followed the instructions over and over and continue returning the following errors:

Since late last week, my Boxee stopped connecting to the internet and network showing very low Wifi Signal strength, but my neighbors seem to have 3 to full bars  while my two wifi was showing one bar. I tried to restore to factory setting, which worked fine but it won't update to the latest firmware. It would start downloading and get to about 90% and just quit. So I'm glad I was able to find this un-official release for a manual update. Hope this solves the few problems I've been experiencing lately. Thanks, again.

Just installed new rc works ok the only problem is still can not read of my mac through network share also when I try to manually type in ip address i can not use the numbers at all, when holding down alt button  and pressing the numbers it brings up symbols instead.

My bad I installed old rc..... Just installed new rc double checked it and everything is cool.

Same as Lucas here. when I put the USB key in the Boxee it says nothing like "update from the USB". 

How to solve this issue since I updated with IOS Lion and my boxee reads nothing anymore?

I am fed up with half-explanations and why does d-Link denied to make a proper update? There are a bunch of people having a mac now and being in trouble!!

awesome! i'm updating as we speak! a side note. AVAST! antivirus blocked the ISO download the 1st time. i had to turn off my web shield to get it. but not worries, just throwing that out there! THANX BOXEE TEAM! im super psyched for NFO file fun!!!!

Doesn't need MD5, it's signed anyways as part of the encryption, so it won't flash if you modify it or it gets corrupted.

first I got a few of the errors number 0x315 and 0x320

but after a few tries I managed to update but it still did not work, black screen and no fun

so I tried the update again; it worked for the first time but when I restart I get a flashing red/green logo and nothing on the tv at all

and I can not get back to the setup menu again

i pretty much figure í could have saved some money buying a brick instead...

My initial attempt to update failed and all I got was a black screen after the update was finished.  I rebooted and took the box back to the factory reset and started over.  Then every thing worked fine.....

Will not recognise my USB.  Starting to get frustrated.

Just a question, where can i download some old version of Boxee firmware? If i just would like to downgrade...?

Having problems with the new update, can't ffw in some local files and after ever reboot I have to enter the password to my NAS. The previous version worked fine , how can  I get it back?

I'm having the same NAS issues after the latest version. Anyone know if there is a fix or am I just left with mediocrity until the next distant update?

Unfortunately the upgrade impacted Playon to the point that it no longer works.  It's much slower and freezes often.  I am going to try the recover options and manually reinstall the firmware to see if that helps.  Anyone else experience problems with playon?

And what do we do when this doesn't work? I followed these directions and the box still hangs in green/red/red/red mode. This is the worst electronics purchase I have ever made. If you can return yours, spare yourself some grief and just return it.

I connected my Boxee to TV using HDMI and i did power the Boxee by holding on to it for 10 seconds, after left the power button the logo did turn orange and on my TV screen it says "LOADING...."

Thats it, it doesn't take me to any setting screen. the logo again starts flashing Red and Green and my screen still says loading.

Can any one help...please!

Having same issue as many others it seems. Box stuck at "loading..". Factory reset doesn't help. It never shows me a screen where I can manually upgrade with new firmware. The box itself keeps flashing 3x red, 1 x green. The little thing lasted 2 weeks and I was happy with it, but considering how expensive it is I think 2 weeks is a bit too little to expect ?!?!

My boxee d/l the update but it always fails to install it.

I had the same red/red/red/green flashing...Seems to be related to how long you hold the power button down.  Try 6-10 seconds (use a timer) - when I did that, it went into the menu...

Not that it actually seemed to load the firmware, but that's a different issue...

I don't understand what I'm doing wrong but I can't figure how to update my firmware even after 10 tries and reading the procedure. If I press and hold the power button on the unit like mentionned my box shutdown after maybe 4 seconds.

If I try to power up the BBox by pressing and holding the button it's not starting, I have to release the button to power up but if I press again it will shutdown after 4 seconds approx (not long enough 6-10 sec), I'm not able to get the light flash or recovery menu.

Do anybody could have an idea of what I'm doing wrong?

the problem:

every time when i tried to update the software i cross this eror 0x320 first of all i tried update the software in boxee box setting > update>check for new version of boxee and then it find the update  but when from som reason it fail to install after failing this metud i tried this guide i get the point of enter my usb flash drive but from some reason it show me the eror 0x320 and fail to update ..

the answer how to solve this problem:

after a cople of trys i entered to recovery mode try to restore factory setting in the start i was getting eror 0x315 but after a couple restarts and disconncet my boxee box from power its success to restore to factory settings after rest i unabled to update by usb but when i tried to update in boxee box Setting > update> Check for update it success to download and install the new version

Perfect hardware and software. Just plugged in and updated the software got all the swedich play channels (SVTPlay and TV4Play) to work after sitching on all audio output.

Just got boxee and am extremely disappointed. It is so hard to download the software. I tried downloading from the USB because the regular d/l times out. Now when I try to download from the USB it says, "Operation Failed, error code 0x314." Anybody know a solution or do I have to take this "fail" back and tweet about it.

Попользовался Boxee Box около недели...очень неплохой аппарат! НО! Плохая настройка по выводу звука. Хотелось бы в новой прошивке увидеть:

1. Вывод звука по оптике, Audio-вывод звука как есть. т.е без всяких преобразований формата записи...44,1кгц\16... 48кгц\16... 48кгц\24... 88,2кгц\24... 96кгц\24... 192кгц\24 и соответственно DTS-MA, DTS-HR как DTS , а Dolby TruHD как DD...

2. Чтоб не слетала глубина цветности 30,36 .....после включения и выключения слетает на 24....

3. Кнопку выключения поближе к кнопке STOP....а то далеко по меню ползти....

Пункт 1, может смело вывести Boxee Box в разряд HI-IND устройств, а при такой цене многие конкуренты останутся за бортом....

Уважаемые модераторы! Если вы смогли бы донести эти пункты до разработчиков...уверен, количество продаж данного девайса резко пошли бы в гору! А их обладатели стали бы ещё счастливее!

A firmware roll back would be nice, the last update caused audio buzzing and crashes/lock ups on the screen saver.

My Boxee does not work anymore after the firmware update today.. just endless loop of logon attempts.. Very sad that it is not possible/easy to roll back to previous version. And the previous (working) versions are not available for manual download. Stable versions should always be available!!
